Any illustrator will tell you: you will be asked at some point to draw something you literally can’t explain. This little project for a friend falls in that box: I was asked to draw Disney beans.
Apart from the randomness of the task – there is, of course, a logical explanation – what was really fun but also puzzling is simply how to do it. How do you turn characters into beans? What to do with their outfit when they have no arms and no legs? And how do you define their face when they have no neck?
It took a lot more thinking than it appears to make these little guys look like beans but still recognizable, fun and just odd enough. Here’s a bunch of them. Let’s see if you can name them.
